Photo by @petekmuller for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. A group of researchers stands at the top of Shipton's Ridge near the summit of Mount #Kenya. The ridge is named after Eric Shipton who, in 1930, made the first ascent of the summit's West Ridge along with fellow mountaineer Bill Tilman. The elevation at this point on is approximately 15,400 feet (4,690 m). I took this photo as the afternoon cloud cover rolled in. On a typical day during the dry season, the high reaches of the mountain are clear during the morning hours, obscured by rain and hail in the afternoon and clear again in the evening.
