I didn’t have a lot of hip-hop in my collection of vinyl back in the 80’s; but I had every Run-DMC album. I was excited for this shoot; and I was surprised by it as well. I hadn’t seen Reverend Run’s reality TV show until the day of the shoot. The magazine messengered me a DVD with some episodes to familiarize myself. We shot at his home in New Jersey. The Rev was a ball of energy; authoritative (a bit controlling) while at the same time exuding a smooth coolness. I asked him that, since he was a reverend and all: “Do you pray?” This is what he did. As told to @Rolling Stone by photographer @ml_picture
