This is mommy. We have been loyal members of VPI Pet Insurance (now Nationwide Pet Health Insurance) for over 10 years. We were disappointed when VPI did not cover Oliver’s patella (knee cap) surgery last year and we considered cancelling our policies at that time. However, our previous baby girl Abby’s cancer treatments were paid at about 70% so we decided to stay with VPI. In hindsight that was a BIG MISTAKE! We were devastated when we learned that Allie’s Liver Shunt Veterinary bills plus different specialists and emergency animal hospital stays that totaled well over $14.000 were not covered at all. They considered this illness genetic and refused to pay any of our claims. This was a hard lesson to learn about the poor coverage with VPI. We thought we were doing the best for our fur babies by having pet insurance. After researching other Pet Insurance Programs and on the recommendation of some IG Friends, we have cancelled our three VPI policies and enrolled with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Plan. Much better coverage at about the same cost and includes genetic health associated issues! (For pre-existing health issues please read the definition of pre-existing conditions on the website) I earnestly recommend that if you have VPI (Nationwide), you compare the coverages and different plans offered by Healthy Paws. If you feel so persuaded to change pet insurance or if you are considering pet insurance for the first time, please consider Healthy Paws. We have joined Healthy Paws as an Affiliate in order to give our friends and family discounts when enrolling. Also, we will get credit towards Allie’s Health Fund! Please use the link in our bio! ???❤️
