Photograph by @Thomas Peschak For more than half the year the western edge of Oman's Arabian sea coast is bathed in warm water. The seabed is carpeted in corals and alive with colorful reef fish. However when the southeastern monsoon begins to blow in June the water cools rapidly and seasonal algae and kelp forests begin to grow quickly. The corals survive beneath the seaweed fronds, but it is always a curious sight to encounter porcupine and other coral reef fish swimming through undersea forests of kelp.
