The original Luminor Marina Militare dates back to the 40s, when Officine Panerai produced and supplied high-precision equipment for the underwater missions of the Italian Navy. The most distinctive feature of most Panerai watches is still today the crown-protecting device with lever originally created and patented by Officine Panerai in order to make its watches highly resistant even in the most extreme underwater usage conditions.
