For decades, 1941's "Citizen Kane" has been hailed as one of the greatest -- and most influential -- movies of all time. Orson Welles' debut film, based on the life of newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, started its first run in major cities in May 1941. But it was September 5 that studio RKO named "'Citizen Kane' Day" -- the day the film was released widely "at popular prices."
