Multidisciplinary artist Nasrah Omar on the beauty of the concrete jungle summer: "#NewYorkCity is an #urban garden, a budding archipelago of nature blossoming against concrete structures. The streets sketch a trellis, along and upon which flourishing vines, orchids, and shrubs flower and thrive. The networks of buildings, like tree trunks, provide shade and shelter from the sweltering sun, blazing in majesty, siphoning shafts of light down avenues and across streets. We, the insects, birds, and other animals call this place home. The crevices reveal the hustle and bustle of us commuting, computing, and communing. A kaleidoscopic scenes of bodies, paint on walls, skittering prints, playful patterns, basked in starlight and sunshine, reflected in glass, like a mirror: microscopic, microcosmic, but always #Summer in some sense.
Flowers always face the #sun, which is why we eternally blossom, why it is always Summer when we feel like it is. The Cor-Date #jewellery inspired me to add elements of resplendence and playfulness from the color palette to my outfit. I featured a kaleidoscopic, #fractaldress by #PrabalGurung and a mahogany floppy hat, which mimics the rhizomatic patterns and vivacious colors of nature, while mirroring, reflecting, and perpetuating itself. Underneath I blocked an #indigo tool #skirt to add a #whimsical touch to the structured, symmetrical ensemble. My shoes offset the #outfit with a fleck of neon, a fleck of the brightest sunlight. To finish the assemblage, I chose a flamingo #pinkhandbag, piped in fuchsia, which reminds me of my favorite summer flower: the pink #peony." ???☀️
