The Austrian-born director Hubert Sauper with a makeshift plane he built himself. Hubert spent two and a half years flying his “tin-can” plane around #Sudan to film “We Come as Friends,” a documentary that details contemporary colonialism. The plane became a rapid means of exit when necessary — as well as made a potent metaphor for all-access Western influence. “We Come as Friends” comes to American theaters on Aug. 14.
