A few weeks ago, I finally sucked it up, set my alarm for 4am and made it out to Moraine Lake for sunrise. Despite having seen many pictures of dawn breaking on this classic scene, I still wasn't prepared for being there in person. As the sun drips down the mountains and changes from pink to orange and then to yellow, you wish more than anything you could slow down time. But you can't, and I suppose this fleetingness is part of what makes it so special.
