A: The biggest Instagram-centric project we have worked was last year’s Queensland Instameet. On the 4th October 2014, the @queensland account hosted the world’s biggest Instameet at 88 locations all across the state from Outback Queensland to the Great Barrier Reef. We enlisted 24 rock star Instagrammers including@laurenepbath, @zachspassport and @jewelszee to host Instameets on the day along with Regional Tourism Organisations, tourism industry and local hosts. Over 1,085 Instagrammers turned up and over 7,000 photos were uploaded to the #thisisqueensland hashtag in one day! From the images posted from the Queensland Instameet day we created a real life pop-up gallery in London and gave away free #thisisqueensland canvases during #freeartfriday – a program that provides free art in a designated location for passers-by to collect for free. ________________________________________Q: When posting a media, what is your Like/Comment threshold that makes it acceptable? A: When choosing media to post we look for a mix of content across all of Queensland’s destinations, events and experiences. We look for quality photos that catches the eye by being surprising, colourful, spectacular or just down right good-looking. We post a mix of landscapes, star trails, cute animals as well as shots with people experiencing Queensland. We don’t post to get a certain number of likes. It’s usually the photos you least expect that do really well engagement wise.
