The @AVMAvets convention CE workshop that is teaching veterinarians how to make a profit (Their words on the workshop headline) with their $45,000 laser machines, declawing kitties, has just started.
Let’s ask them to stop hiding behind this green piece of paper and start honoring the oath they took that says they will heal and help animals. Many of them make over $75,000 a year declawing kitties and maybe that is a source of revenue that they just don’t want to give up, no matter what.
Declawing does NOT keep a cat in a home. Please go to Petfinder.com and search “declawed cats.” You will find hundreds of them sitting in shelters looking for another home after their owners tossed them out.
Let’s ask the AVMA why they won’t condemn declawing in domestic cats like they did for exotic cats because of the pain and suffering. Domestic cats suffer ALL the time and EVERYDAY from this horrific crippling surgery that is done 95% of the time for a piece of furniture.
Ask the AVMA this… if they really care about kitties and not the $$ then why don’t they have a CE workshop that teaches innovative, humane, and successful alternatives for scratching behavior issues in cats.
Let’s ask them to ONLY use their lasers to heal. “Last resort” AVMA? Sadly this workshop may hold the answer as to why you don’t care that declawing is often a first choice with many of your veterinarians.
