#TBT to this day in 1971, when #Pirates slugger Willie Stargell crushed the longest home run in the history of Philadelphia's Veteran's Stadium. "I went up there after he hit that home run and I looked down," said teammate Richie Hebner. "It looked like a $20 cab ride from there to home plate." Stargell became the first player to hit a ball to the 600 level upper deck in right field. The #Phillies marked its landing with a gold star, which remained there until the Vet was demolished in 2004.
