@bydastann — The Mangystau Region, situated on the Eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, is a prominent region in Western Kazakhstan. Its capital city, Aktau, derived its name from the Kazakh term for “white mountain,” possibly inspired by the striking cliffs that stand tall above the Caspian waters. It is noteworthy that Aktau was known as Shevchenko from 1964 to 1991.
