メリル・デイヴィスさんのインスタグラム写真 - (メリル・デイヴィスInstagram)「I believe I was around 11 or 12 the first time I remember feeling embarrassed about my muscular build. Even at that young age, I remember thinking how notable it was that my leg muscles appeared so much larger than my peers. In fact, it would take more than a decade from those first moments of shame for me to appreciate the strength in my legs and what it could do for me. As I worked on the ice to earn my way through sport, I developed an appreciation for the things that made me unique while never losing that sense of somehow wishing I was different or a “better” version of myself. Now, I find it funny to look down and miss the intensity of definition and strength that came so naturally to me in my competitive days - longing, in a way, for the very things I was previously so embarrassed of. Ah, maturity, growth and learning do funny things to us, don’t they? I share this with you today because I know it’s all too common for us, particularly as women and girls, to constantly be picking at ourselves - honing in on those things we’re convinced aren’t good enough or that need “fixing.” I believe we must find a way to bravely work toward being the best versions of ourselves while also loving, accepting and celebrating who we are at each moment along the way. Here’s a reminder that you’re beautiful and more than enough RIGHT NOW! Maybe you want to lose weight, maybe you wish you were taller or had smoother skin... that’s ok! You can be on a journey and still find great value in supporting the person you see in the mirror today - she is worthy of love, too! 🤗💕 ••• P.S. Thank you @leftonfriday for my new pieces. LOVE to see kick butt ladies doing kick butt things! 💪🏼」1月22日 3時51分 - meryledavis
