メリル・デイヴィスさんのインスタグラム写真 - (メリル・デイヴィスInstagram)「I was flipping through the ‘gram early this morning before our hike and came across my inspirational friend @amypurdygurl poignant post in which she discussed her roller coaster of emotions recently. Reading Amy’s words that so accurately described what I’ve also been feeling made me a little less anxious. I find that hearing or reading about what others are experiencing in these uncertain times can remind us of our kinship, commonalities and shared humanity. Though we aren’t hugging, giving high-fives or patting one another on the back, we must find ways to maintain our connectedness and support one another from afar. Today was a hard one for me, I’m not going to lie. I’m neither a first responder, nor a health care professional... I’m not putting my life on the line for others every day. Still, it breaks my heart to know that my staying home, washing my hands and wishing people the best will not be enough to prevent the loss of many, many lives. I feel helpless and while my mind searches for answers, my heart could use some hope. On the way home this afternoon, Fedor, Bilbo and I were listening to Gov. Cuomo’s daily remarks. I hope that, regardless of your political affiliations, you too will find, or found, these sentiments uplifting: “Life is not about avoiding challenges. Challenges are going to come your way. Life is going to knock you on your rear end at one point. Something will happen. And then life becomes about overcoming those challenges. That's what life is about. And that's what this country is about... America is America because we overcome adversity and challenges. That's how we were born. That's what we've done all our life. We overcome challenges and this is a period of challenge for this generation. And that's what has always made America great and that's what going to make this generation great. I believe that to the bottom of my soul." I’m sorry for this somewhat disjointed post - I felt inspired to share, despite the lack of cohesion. For what it’s worth, know that I’m thinking of you. You’re not alone. We WILL get through this together. Photo: @oliverflyphotography 💜」3月23日 5時46分 - meryledavis
