Gen Z is consuming more than just memes. Annually, teenagers are spending a whopping $2,600 on food and clothes.
Brands like Lululemon, Ulta and Vans are popular among teens. Most Gen Z's prefer doing their shopping through Amazon, too. And when it comes to food, Chick-fil-A and Chipotle are their preferred spots.
The retail industry is trying to figure out the shopping behavior of teens, who are often referred to as Gen Z consumers, born between 1997 and 2012. It has been estimated that teenagers account for more than $75 billion in spending power, with roughly a quarter of the U.S. population under 20 years old. As this budding group of consumers opens up its wallet even wider, it's an important one for retailers to target if they want to stay ahead and keep growing.
